Pulpety is a meaty dish served quite often in Polish households for dinner. You can easily buy them ready in jars, in Polish shops. But they are so easy to prepare so why not bother a little?
Ingredients:
Mince beef 0,5 kg
2 eggs
Marjoram (pinch)
Breadcrumbs (a few tablespoons; suggested Polish breadcrumbs)
Salt and pepper
Mushrooms (for sauce, 0,5 kg)
Sour cream (12 percent)
Dill (a few spoons of freshly chopped)
Preparation:
Place the meat in a bowl. Add eggs, breadcrumbs, marjoram, salt and pepper. Check for taste. Add as much salt or pepper as you like. Then, mix it all with your hand till the mixture is soft and all ingredients are evenly combined.
Form medium size balls.
Bring water to boil with a pinch of salt. Once boiling, reduce the heat and place a few meat balls in the water.
Boil for about 5 minutes.
Remove the pulpety and let them cool down.
Wash and cut the mushrooms into big pieces and fry them on a low heat till slightly golden. Add some salt and pepper for taste. Bring water to bail in half of a separate pan. Once boiled, reduce the heat and add fried mushrooms with their natural sauce. Pour half a content of cold water to a small jar and add 3-4 tablespoons of flour. Place the lid and shake well. Add the mixture to the sauce. Do not stop stirring. Add as much as you need for thickening of the sauce.
Once thickened, add dill and half a tub (5-6 tablespoons) of sour cream. Stir gently till all ingredients are combined.
Add pulpety and boil on a low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring from time to time. Serve hot with boiled / mashed hot potatoes.
